HAMMOND—Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller announced today that asphalt work will begin Monday on the expanding Club Deluxe Road in Hammond.

Miller said the contractor will start laying asphalt on the west end of Club Deluxe Road at its intersection with South Morrison Boulevard starting on Monday, Sept. 9. Crews will overlay both the north and south sides of the existing roadway and work their way east.

The contractor will not have to close the roadway to do this work; however, Miller said crews will be using oil on the road base of the new sections before applying asphalt; therefore motorists may want to avoid that area while fresh oil is present on the roadway.

“This puts us one step closer to completing the Club Deluxe Road expansion project,” Miller said. 

As it stands now, motorists who need to travel Club Deluxe for work or appointments should approach the site from the east if at all possible, Miller said.

Weather permitting, the asphalt work should take approximately two weeks to complete, and Miller said his office will notify the public if the schedule needs to be extended for any reason.

The parish president said the expansion project could be completed as soon as December.
