Dense Fog Monday Morning and Cold Temperatures Ahead - Oct 17, 2022

Click HERE and HERE for an update concerning the foggy conditions early across the Mississippi Coast as well as much of Southeastern Louisiana especially near Lake Pontchartrain and south. Dense fog will pose a travel hazard early this morning with visibility around a 1/4 mile in some areas. Conditions will improve after sunrise. See embedded image for more details.

However, much colder temperatures are forecasted for our area with near or even below-freezing temperatures.

Overview:

WHAT: A Freeze Watch has been issued for temperatures near or just below freezing

WHEN: Wednesday morning there will be a few hours of at or below-freezing temperatures

WHERE: Locations along and north of the I-12 corridor through Coastal MS, along and North of Lake Pontchartrain.

CONFIDENCE:

  • There is high confidence that there will be a few hours of near or sub-freezing temperatures Wednesday morning.

Impacts: 

  • Temperatures will fall into the lower 30s and will be below freezing for 2 to 3 hours.  

  • These conditions can damage citrus and other sensitive agricultural crops
