PONCHATOULA—Tangipahoa Parish waterways south of LA 22 have been closed to recreational traffic effective Monday, Sept. 6.

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said the emergency closure is a direct result of high water and a large amount of debris in local waterways post-Hurricane Ida.

Under the terms of the order, waterways are closed to all recreational traffic until further notice. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will be patrolling these areas and issuing fines to violators.
