Hours of operation: Landfill, Permits

AMITE—To help residents dispose of their household garbage in the wake of Hurricane Ida, the Tangipahoa Parish Landfill will be open additional hours.

Starting on Monday, Sept. 6, hours of operation will be 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Monday thru Friday; 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturdays. This schedule will remain in effect until further notice.

The landfill is located at 57510 Hano Road in Independence. Only Type II (residential and commercial solid waste) and Type III waste (construction and demolition debris) products are accepted at the local landfill.

With the exception of the landfill and the parish’s permit office, all remaining Tangipahoa Parish Government offices will be closed through Friday, Sept. 10. 

The permit office will be open on Tuesday, Sept. 7, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. to issue emergency repair permits only.

The permit office is housed inside the Clausen Building, located at 15485 West Club Deluxe Road in Hammond.
