Hurricane Ida Update - Sunday August 29, 4pm CDT
IDA is still a very dangerous major hurricane. This event is only just beginning across much of the area and will continue to unfold over the next 24 hours.

Changes from last update:
- Hurricane Warning issued for Southwest Mississippi
- Storm surge warning trimmed out of Iberville Parish and portions of Assumption Parish
Impacts:
Winds
- A swath of devastating damage near where Ida's center moves as a major hurricane
- A large swath of significant damage
Storm Surge
- Significant and life-threatening storm surge is occurring
Rainfall/Inland Flooding
- A large area of 10-15" is expected with a swath of 15-20" near the center of the track including in the metro Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas.
- Localized amounts in excess of 24" are possible
- Heaviest rainfall is expected today and Monday.
Tornadoes
- There is a threat of weak/short lived tornadoes across our entire forecast area.
