Public Notice Of Tangipahoa Parish Updated Hazard Mitigation Plan 2020

PUBLIC NOTICE OF TANGIPAHOA PARISH’S UPDATED HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN 2020

The Tangipahoa Parish Government hereby notifies the public of the availability of the draft Hazard Mitigation Plan for Tangipahoa Parish Government, which will provide a five (5) year coordinated Parish Plan 2020 for disaster mitigation and public assistance funding. An update of this Plan (last updated in 2015) is required by State and federal agencies every 5 years in order for communities to remain eligible for certain types of federal mitigation and disaster assistance of funding. The term “Hazard Mitigation” describes actions that can help reduce or eliminate risks caused by hazards or disasters and planning to reduce future risks. Risks may include hurricanes, tornadoes, snowstorms, flooding, wildfires, droughts, health pandemics and other kinds of natural disasters that can cause widespread economic loss and personal hardships.

The public is invited to review and to comment on the draft plan or may send in questions to the Parish to be considered for planning purposes. The purpose of this notice is to encourage and obtain public input to be considered in the planning process. The HM Plan draft will be posted on the Parish’s website for public review www.tangipahoa.org under Residents tab, and then Emergency Preparedness. Printed versions are available for review at the Parish’s Planning office in Hammond at 15485 W. Club Deluxe Rd (Clausen Building), or at the Parish Government Office in Amite at 206 E. Mulberry Street, during normal working hours Monday- Friday.
