Road Work: Bridge inspections scheduled on US 51 north of Village of Tangipahoa this week

KENTWOOD—DOTD will inspect four north Tangi bridges, including three located on US 51, starting Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said DOTD plans to inspect the Green Farm Road Bridge, Beaver Creek Bridge, Cool Creek Bridge and Terry’s Creek Bridge this week.

To safely allow for inspectors to work in the area, traffic will be limited during the review process.

On Wednesday, crews will close Green Farm Road between S. Lewiston Road and LA 1056. Inspectors will be working there in the morning hours. No wide loads will be allowed, and only local traffic will be permitted in the area during the closure period.

On Wednesday afternoon, crews will begin inspecting the three remaining sites on US 51. Each bridge will be limited to alternating, intermittent one-lane traffic during the review period. Inspectors are scheduled to be in the area through Thursday, Oct. 6. DOTD has indicated they will work only one bridge at a time to limit the number of lane closures during this process.

Miller said motorists can expect delays during the inspection period. Detours will be posted and drivers may prefer to use I-55 as an alternate route.

In addition to the bridge inspections, the following road work is scheduled in Tangipahoa Parish during the week of October 3:

Paving: Greco Road, Nicholas Drive, Blaire Drive, Naples Drive, Milan Drive, North and East Charbonnet Road, Kayla Drive, and Penny Drive. All of these roads will be paved full width, Miller said, so crews will close the roadway at the point of construction starting at 8:30 a.m.

Overlay: Crown Drive will be overlaid one lane at a time this week.

Milling and Patching: Wadesboro, Crown, Coates Road, Ott Lane, Blythwood, and Bella Gardens.

Soil Cement: Ott Lane and Audubon Drive.

RPC Patching: Sisters Road.
