Road Work Update - 5/20/2020

AMITE---Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller announced that road crews will be working on the the following streets, weather permitting:

*The rail crossing project on Bickham Chapel Road in Velma has been delayed by one day and will begin on Thursday, May 21. Miller said Canadian National crews were waiting on materials that did not come in, as scheduled. The crossing will be closed starting Thursday morning at 7 a.m. and remain closed until approximately 4 p.m. on Friday, May 22. No traffic will be allowed through the crossing during this construction period.

*Also on Thursday, May 21, road crews will be paving Oak Ridge Church Road. That overlay project is slightly ahead of schedule, Miller said.

*On Friday, May 22, crews will close a portion of Hunter Drive to install cross drains. Miller encouraged residents and motorists to avoid that area during the construction period, if at all possible.

All road work will be posted during the day of construction.
