Road Work Update For Thursday March 25, 2021

INDEPENDENCE—Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller announced today that Canadian National has scheduled maintenance work on several local railroad crossings, which will require one-day closures at each site as work is being completed.

Miller said the schedule calls for maintenance work to be performed as follows:
Friday, March 26: Maggio Road Crossing, Independence
Monday, March 29: Black Cat Crossing, Independence
Tuesday, March 30: Velma Crossing, Velma

Individual crossings are expected to be closed during daylight hours starting at 7 a.m. each day, and travelers will have to detour around the crossing during the work period. No traffic will be allowed through the crossing during the scheduled closure. All work will be completed on a weather-permitting basis, railroad officials said.
