Click HERE for an update concerning the heavy rain and severe threat for now through Wednesday. Changes from previous update:

  • Flash Flood Watch was extended for areas south of I-10/I-12 corridor through 4pm

  • Flash Flood Watch for areas along and north of I-12/I-10 still out through noon

  • Flash Flood Watch has been cancelled for Pike, Amite, Wilkinson, and Walthall Counties in MS

OVERVIEW: WHAT: SLIGHT RISK of Heavy Rain today

MARGINAL RISK of Severe Weather today through Wednesday morning

MARGINAL RISK of Heavy Rainfall through Wednesday evening WHEN: Now through Wednesday morning WHERE:

Today: Along and south of the I-10/I-12 corridor for heavy rainfall; Across Southeast Louisiana and Southern Mississippi for severe weather

Tuesday: Along and North of the I-10/I-12 corridor for heavy rainfall; Across Southeast Louisiana and Southern Mississippi for severe weather

CONFIDENCE:

  • We are confident there will be thunderstorms across the area and that a line of storms will likely continue to develop through the morning and into the afternoon hours. We have less confidence in exactly where that may occur.

  • If and where that happens will be the main key in impacts. A shift of 10-20 miles could make all of the difference.

Impacts:

  • Additional rainfall of 2 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts will be possible now through Wednesday morning

  • Locations, where any band sets up, could experience flash flooding with life-threatening flash flooding possible in areas that receive the most rain

  • Wind gusts greater than 60 mph and hail up to 1" in diameter will be the primary threats

  • An isolated tornado can not be ruled out

The attached briefing below highlights the threats associated with this system.
