Overview:
WHAT: MARGINAL RISK to SLIGHT RISK of Severe Weather
WHEN: Wednesday night
WHERE: All of SW MS and portions of SE LA west of Bogalusa to Laplace to Thibodaux line.
CONFIDENCE: We have higher than average confidence there will be strong to marginally severe thunderstorms over portions of SE LA and SW MS Wednesday evening into Wednesday night. Highest confidence of an isolated severe storm forming is over SW MS west of McComb and areas NW of Baton Rouge in SE LA Wednesday evening.
Impacts:
- The main threats associated with any severe storms will be:
- Wind gusts greater than 60 mph will be possible
- Trees and powerlines could be damaged and lead to isolated/scattered power outages
- Large hail up to 1 inch in diameter will be possible
- A few tornadoes will be possible
- In addition to the severe weather threat, rainfall of up to 1 inch is forecast with locally higher amounts possible.
- This rainfall could lead to ponding of water in low lying areas and areas of poor drainage.
