Severe Weather Update - Thursday April 8, 2021

Changes from previous update:

  • The ENHANCED RISK area was expanded slightly southward to include portions of southeast Louisiana

Overview:
 

WHAT:  SLIGHT RISK/ENHANCED RISK of severe weather
 

WHEN: Friday afternoon through Saturday morning

 

WHERE: The greatest threat across SW Mississippi counties and the adjacent LA parishes.

CONFIDENCE:

  • We are confident there will be thunderstorms across the area and becoming more confident in the potential for severe thunderstorm development.

Impacts:

The main threats associated with any storms that do become severe storms will be:

  • Wind gusts greater than 60 mph will be the main threat, and can down trees and powerlines, as well as causing minor structural damage

  • Large hail and a few tornadoes cannot be ruled out

  • In addition to the severe weather threat, widespread rainfall of 2 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts.
