Severe Weather/Heavy Rainfall Update October 27, 2021 6 am

Overview:

WHAT:  SLIGHT to ENHANCED RISK of Severe Weather and MARGINAL RISK of Flooding rainfall.

WHEN: The time of highest potential for both risk levels will start after noon today and end around midnight tonight as activity moves east of Mississippi.

WHERE: All of SELA and southern Mississippi.

CONFIDENCE:

  • Thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are expected and there is high confidence that some thunderstorms will become severe.

  • We have medium-high confidence regarding the timing of the system.

Impacts:

The main threats associated with severe storms will be:

  • Strong damaging winds (60+ mph)

  • Isolated tornadoes

  • Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are possible with isolated higher amounts

  • Rainfall rates in excess of 2 inches/hour
