Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller Addresses Preparations For Anticipated Weather Conditions

AMITE—Weather doesn’t take a holiday, and while many are preparing for a long holiday weekend, Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller says Parish Government is on standby mode, watching carefully as a bitterly cold weather system makes its way into our area over President’s Day.

Miller said the forecast still offers a degree of uncertainty; however, one thing residents can make preparations for now is freezing temperatures.

“Right now, all of the forecast models show low temperatures approaching the lower 20s overnight Monday. That means a hard freeze for our area, and we know that means it’s time to make plans to protect the 4Ps: people, pipes, pets, and plants,” Miller said.

The parish president said a key concern heading into Monday is whether or not the frontal system will include precipitation. Forecast models are not quite aligned as of late Friday; however, Miller said the parish is prepared to bring in salt to cover roadways in the event that there is an ice event as part of this system.

“Our crews are on standby, and we have made preparations to salt roadways in the event of icy conditions,” Miller said.
