Tangipahoa Parish Receives Keep Louisiana Beautiful Grant
INDEPENDENCE—Keep Louisiana Beautiful has once again recognized Tangipahoa Parish’s efforts to beautify our community and eradicate litter.
Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller announced today that Keep Louisiana Beautiful has awarded the parish a $4,500 grant to help beautify the I-55 entry to Independence this spring.
"This grant award represents an active partnership of KLB, Tangipahoa Parish’s litter abatement staff, the Town of Independence, local lawmakers, Keep Tangipahoa Beautiful, and a host of volunteers who have worked tirelessly to clean up hot spots around town and raise awareness for KTB’s anti-litter initiative," Miller said. “We are really excited about the project this grant will fund and the improvements it will make possible at the I-55 entrance for Independence.”
Independence Mayor Jim Paine echoed Miller’s sentiments adding, “This is great news for the Town of Independence. We are grateful for the partnership with Tangipahoa Parish Government to make this project possible. The Keep Louisiana Beautiful grant is truly a blessing for our community."
This grant will be used to install a welcome sign and related beautification on LA 40 near I-55. The parish will coordinate this project with Independence Mayor Jim Paine. Miller also encourages any groups or individuals who want to volunteer for an upcoming litter clean-up event this spring to contact Ginger Tastet at (985) 748-3211.
