TODAY March 31,2021-Weather Threats Update

Overview:

WHAT: MARGINAL RISK to SLIGHT RISK of Severe Thunderstorms. MARGINAL RISK of excessive rainfall.

WHEN:

  • The severe weather and excessive rainfall threat will be greatest from 11am through 7pm today.

WHERE:  All of SE LA and S MS with the exception of immediate gulf coastal sections of SE LA.

CONFIDENCE:  We are confident that there will be thunderstorms across the area Wednesday. We are moderately confident in the occurrence of severe weather and heavy rainfall.

Impacts:

  • Any storms that do become severe today will be capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, hail, and one or two tornadoes.

  • Rainfall totals should be around an inch with isolated higher amounts possible. These amounts could fall in a short time causing low lying and poor drainage areas to take on water.
