TPG Hosts Meeting on Mitigation Grant Opportunities for Residents

HAMMOND—Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller announced that Parish Government will host a public meeting this month to discuss the process for homeowners to apply for mitigation grants.

Miller said the public is invited to attend this meeting, which will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 5:30 p.m., in the large conference room at the Clausen Building, located at 15485 West Club Deluxe Road in Hammond.

Since the 2016 flood events, Miller has encouraged residents to consider applying for Hazard Mitigation grants. They provide homeowners in flood-prone areas with the opportunity to elevate their homes. Residents who qualify do pay a portion of the cost; however, the mitigation grant provides federal funding to offset the expense to the homeowner.

Completing this process also helps homeowners with their rates on flood insurance.

Officials will outline the program, detailing requirements and providing interested residents with information on how to apply.

For more information, contact the Tangipahoa Parish Government office at (985) 748-3211.
