TPG Road Work: Week of August 7, 2023

PUMPKIN CENTER—Paving operations will be the emphasis of this week’s Phase 2023 overlay project in Tangipahoa Parish.

Parish President Robby Miller said crews have scheduled 10 local roadways for paving this week.

This week crews plan to pave Hickory Drive, George Fischer Drive, Cemetery Road, Pecan Trace Drive, Pecan Allee Drive, Sun Perch Lane, Bass Lake Trail, Twin Lakes Boulevard, Kellywood Drive, and Snowball Circle. The projects call for full-width paving, so motorists can expect delays in those construction zones.

The following roads are scheduled for work during the week of August 7:

  • Patching: Hollie Lane, West Portier Road, Graceland Drive, Recile Road, and Tina Drive;
  • Dressing: West Lee Hughes Road, Wellington Lane, M.C. Moore Road, 2nd Avenue, South Magnolia Street, Kay Drive, Happywoods Road, Schafer Drive, Jolane Drive, Lynwood Road, East Nickens Road, West Dutch Lane, and Hickory Drive.

In addition to the Phase 2023 overlay work scheduled, Miller reminds motorists that a portion of South Airport Road will be closed for four days starting August 7 as work continues on the Hoover Road/Sisters Road roundabout project.

On Monday, August 7, 2023, South Airport Road will be closed at a location approximately 400 feet north of the Hoover Road/Sisters Road intersection. The closure is scheduled to begin at 6:30 a.m. that day, and the roadway will remain closed until approximately 6:30 a.m. on Friday, August 11, as crews complete a series of work, including the installation of two large cross drains.

All road work is weather-permitting. Detours will be posted, as necessary, and Miller encourages motorists to use care when traveling through work zones.
