Winter Weather Update - January 21, 2022 at 4PM CST

Here is an update concerning the multiple freezes over the next several days.

Changes from Previous Update:

  • No Major Changes

Overview:

Freeze and hard freeze warnings are still in effect for tonight.

Freeze and hard freeze watches are still in effect for Saturday night.

WHAT: Multiple nights of freezing temperatures and/or wind chills

WHEN: The coldest temperatures are expected tonight and Saturday night

WHERE: Areas will vary slightly by night, with the coldest temperatures generally across Southwest Mississippi and through the Pearl and Pascagoula drainage areas.

CONFIDENCE: 

We have high confidence in multiple nights of freezing temperatures and wind chills across much of the area, especially Friday and Saturday nights

IMPACTS (Friday night and Saturday night):

  • Freezing temperatures can damage citrus and other sensitive agricultural crops.

  • Temperatures in the low to mid-20s can cause damage to unprotected pipes
