DOTD Installs Rumble Strips On Six Roadways Sunday 2/7/2021; Expect Short Closures

AMITE—Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said motorists can expect delays on several local roadways this Sunday evening as Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development crews install rumble strips on these roadways.

Miller said DOTD plans to install rumble strips in six high-traffic areas on the southern half of the parish this Sunday evening. Those locations include South Yokum Road at Sisters Road, South Airport Road at Sisters Road, North Hoover Road at Sisters Road, Whiskey Lane at LA 1064, Antioch Road at LA 442, and Esterbrook Road at Weinberger Road.

Crews attempted to do the work earlier this week but because of the traffic density, it simply was not conducive to install these improvements during the day, Miller said.

As a result, crews will install these safety upgrades on Sunday, Feb. 7, during “off peak hours” that evening. During installation, motorists can expect 30-45 minute road closures in these areas. Construction zones will be posted, and Miller encourages the public to be careful traveling in these areas or to simply find other routes during this time.
