Overview:

  • Hurricane Delta is forecast to move generally northwest across the Yucatan Peninsula this morning. The system is expected to bring impacts to the northern Gulf coast from Thursday night through Saturday.

Confidence:

  • If the current forecast holds, we remain confident that moderate to significant impacts will be experienced across portions of SE LA and S MS

  • 3-5 feet of inundation: Lake Pontchartrain and Maurepas
  • 2-4 feet of inundation: Ocean Springs to the AL/FL State Line

Heavy rainfall:

  • 4-8 inches will be possible generally west of I-55 and north of I-10 in SE LA and S MS.
  • Less than 4 inches is forecast for the rest of SE LA and coastal MS
  • Locally higher or double amounts are possible for our area, especially if any banding sets up over the area

  • Hurricane Force winds will be possible along the Atchafalaya Basin and coastal Louisiana up to Grand Isle.
  • Tropical Storm force winds will be possible over the rest of SE LA and S MS eastward, which includes Baton Rouge metro, New Orleans metro, S MS Counties, Pearl River, and Hancock County.
