HAMMOND—Tangipahoa residents who have suffered roof damage from Hurricane Ida can now sign up for Operation Blue Roof, Parish President Robby Miller said.
A priority mission managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Operation Blue Roof provides homeowners in disaster areas with fiber-reinforced sheeting to cover their damaged roofs until permanent repairs can be made.
This is a free service offered to homeowners, Miller said, adding that the goal of the program is to protect property, reduce temporary housing costs, and allow residents to remain in their homes while recovering from the hurricane.
In order to qualify for this program, the structure in question must serve as a primary residence. A “permanently occupied rental property” can also qualify for this program if its structural damage is less than 50 percent. Vacation rentals are not eligible for this program.
Applications are now being accepted online at https://arcportal-ucop-partners.usace.army.mil/usaceportal/apps/sites/#/usace-blue-roof-online-signup.
