Road Work Update For The Week of June 28-July 2, 2021

AMITE—Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller reminds motorists that the railroad crossing at Foulks Lane on the north side of Amite will be closed Monday, June 28, through Wednesday, June 30.

Canadian National Rail requested the road closure so they can make replacements and repairs at the crossing.

Foulks Lane will be closed from its intersection with US 51 starting at 6 a.m. on Monday. Officials anticipate the roadway will not reopen until approximately 6 p.m. Wednesday.

In addition to the rail repairs, parish overlay crews are also planning for a busy week before the July 4 holiday weekend. Local road construction projects scheduled for June 28-July 2 include:

*Asphalt overlay on Arena, Brumfield, North Oak, Lafitte, Ruth, Caroline, E. Hoover, Harvey, Midway, Buckles Lane, Old Genessee, and Webster;

*Asphalt patching on North Oak, E. Hoover, Ruth, Harvey, Caroline, Wyndotte, Michelli, Robert Vernon, and Houltonwood;

*Milling on Old Genessee, Wilson, Ruffino, Steptoe, Dykes, and North Cooper; 

*Cement work on St. Alexander, Airline, and Dykes;

*Shoulder work on Schum, R Harper, Morgan Howes, Wheat Crest, Osceola, Phoenix Square, and North Oak;

*Three course treatment work on F Lea, G Lea, B Sanders, Doty, Wyndotte, Robert Vernon, Sandy Hollow, and Houltonwood.

All work is weather-permitting, Miller said. Signs will be posted on the day of construction, and Miller reminds motorists to use alternate routes, where possible, due to traffic delays during the construction period.
