“We encourage anyone who’s had an issue with flash flooding or flooding following extended rain events to please come out and pick up sandbags,” Miller said.
Miller said parish leaders have been on alert, monitoring the tropical weather system heading for the Gulf of Mexico. Miller said the parish is preparing for rains related to the storm and said initial forecasts indicate Thursday afternoon is when conditions will likely begin to deteriorate ahead of the storm.
“While the weather is cooperating, let’s all check our pantries, make sure we have adequate food, water, and medicine in the event that this storm heads our way,” Miller said.
Tangipahoa Parish Government will post updates on the storm system on their website, www.Tangipahoa.org, and on the parish’s social media channels. Miller also encouraged residents to stay tuned to local media for the latest updates on this weather system.
