Severe Weather and Heavy Rainfall Update for Tuesday, April 13, 2021

Overview:
 

WHAT: Marginal Risk for severe weather.

WHEN: During the day on Tuesday.

WHERE: The majority of southeastern Louisiana and a small portion of western coastal Mississippi.

CONFIDENCE:

  • Moderate confidence on the potential for severe weather.

Impacts:

Severe Weather Impacts:

  • The primary threat will be damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 mph can down trees and powerlines, and cause minor structural damage. Other threats include large hail and dangerous lightning.

Heavy Rain Impacts:

  • 1 to 2.5 inches of rain is forecast across portions of southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi.

  • Locally higher amounts will be possible, especially across southeastern LA

  • Ponding of water in low lying and poor drainage areas is likely, with localized flash flooding possible

  • Additional rises on area rivers will be possible.
