Severe Weather Update For Wednesday April 7, 2021

  • The threat of severe weather has increased.

  • The area of greatest threat has shifted south.

Overview:

WHAT:MARGINAL RISK/SLIGHT RISK of Severe Weather

WHEN: Wednesday night into Thursday morning

WHERE: SW Mississippi and adjacent Louisiana parishes

CONFIDENCE:

  • We are confident there will be thunderstorms across the area. We have little confidence any of them will become severe.

Impacts:

The main threats associated with any severe storms will be:

Damaging Winds:

  • Wind gusts greater than 60 mph will be possible

  • Trees and powerlines could be damaged and lead to isolated/scattered power outages

Tornadoes:

  • A few tornadoes will be possible

Rainfall

  • In addition to the severe weather threat, rainfall up to an inch is forecast with locally higher amounts possible.
