As the threat from Hurricane Sally has pushed well to our northeast, Parish President Robby Miller announced Tuesday that Tangipahoa Parish Government closed the Emergency Operations Center at 2 p.m. today and will resume normal business operations effective

WHEREAS, the Parish of Tangipahoa has declared that all Tangipahoa Parish waterways are
closed to all recreational traffic effective 19:00pm CST Monday, 14 September 2020 due to
rising water from Hurricane Sally; 

In response to the need created by the approach of Hurricane Sally, Parish President Robby Miller announced this afternoon that Tangipahoa Parish is prepared to open one last resort evacuation shelter. “With this dangerous storm approaching, we simply will not stand by and fail to protect our most vulnerable residents,” Miller said, adding that this evacuation shelter is truly a “last resort” for those without other friends or family who can take them in right now.

Hurricane Sally is forecast to move generally west-northwestward through today and slow down as it approaches the mouth of the MS River, then slowly turn more northerly early Tuesday.
