AMITE—Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller reminds residents that Tangipahoa Parish remains is included in a 13-parish burn ban post-Hurricane Ida.
The ban, which has been in effect since Aug. 31, 2021, prohibits burning anywhere in Tangipahoa Parish.
Miller said the burn ban was necessary because of a number of contributing factors, including low water pressure in several portions of the parish.
“We are worried about dry, highly flammable materials, low water pressure, and of course, the number of breathing problems created by smoke in the air. With all of these considerations, this is simply not the right time for residents to burn trash or debris.”
The State Fire Marshal has also issued a burn ban across the hurricane-impacted areas. Anyone caught violating the order will be cited by officials.
