Here's an update in Tangipahoa Parish on 9/7/21:

Power Outages:

  • 59.75% power outage - Total Outages - 49,936

    • Entergy: 39,218

    • WST:  1,452

    • DEMCO: 620

Proclamation of Emergency Closures:

  • All Tangipahoa Parish Waterways

Propane is an issue in: 

  • Rural Areas

Crisis Help:

  • Volunteer Crisis Clean-up - 1844-965-1386
  • (MRIC) Mobile Registration Intake Center  today, Sunday and Monday - Amite Library, 204 NE Central Ave. Beginning Tuesday, Hammond Library- Assist with registering  disasterassistance.gov, Call via Elevate 1-800-621-3362, TTY 1-800-462-7585

  • First Responder/Medical Personnel Fuel Pods - Gas and diesel available Clasen building, FairGrounds and Weigh Station on I-12.

95% Parish Roads are passable:

  • 4 state road closures - high water and debris

  • DOTD - Old Hwy 51 Closed from Ponchatoula to Laplace (involves a semi-truck)

Debris contractor (DRC) continues:

  • Debris can be placed on the backside of the ditch as long as the long arm can reach the debris. Do not pile debris near gas meters.
  • Debris pickup began yesterday, September 6th

Resources:

  • Any resources needed - contact EOC (avoid duplication of efforts):
  • Verizon Response @ Seekers Point Church, Hammond - Portable cell sites, WiFi hotspots, charging stations

Pods continue today from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm - water, ice, and MREs being distributed:

  • Hammond Walmart: 2799 W Thomas St, Hammond, LA 70401

  • Ponchatoula Walmart

  • Additional Type 3 PODS requested for locations in:

    • Kentwood Open 

    • Independence Open 

    • Roseland Open

    • Village of Tangipahoa Open

    • Loranger High -  Open

    • Whites Seafood -  Open

    • Champ Cooper - Open

    • Tickfaw - Open

    • Wilmar - Open

CLOSURES:

  • Tangipahoa schools will be closed until further notice due to severe damage to many schools.
  • TPG offices will be closed through Friday with the exception of the Landfill and Hammond Permit Office for emergency repair permits Only

Landfill Hours:  Monday - Friday 6:30 am-6:30 pm.  Saturday 7:00 am-3:00 pm until further notice

Hammond Permit Office will open Tuesday, September 7th, 8:00 am-4:00 pm

Curfew remains in effect

Burn Ban remains in effect (Stress this is still in place - fire departments are getting calls of residents burning debris)
