Tropical Depression 19 Update - September 11th, 2020

Changes from the Previous Update:

  • The tropical disturbance over the western Bahamas now has become Tropical Depression 19.

Overview:

Tropical Depression 19:

  • This system is forecast to move westward and enter the eastern Gulf of Mexico early Saturday. It will then generally move west-northwestward over the eastern Gulf of Mexico this weekend into early next week.

Confidence:

  • Moderate confidence that the disturbance near the Bahamas will lead to impacts across southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi.

  • Confidence will increase with a better idea of exact impacts by late this weekend.

Impacts:

  • This system has the potential to bring a threat of heavy rain to the local area beginning early next week - lasting into the middle to later parts of next week. Some areas may experience flooding.

  • Additional impacts include the potential for gusty winds and elevated tides/minor coastal flooding.
