Tropical Update - Newly Named Tropical Storm Claudette 6 AM Saturday June 19th, 2021

Changes from the previous update: 

• PTC3 was named Tropical Storm Claudette right over the LA coast near Houma

• Impacts outside of ongoing flooding and rising rivers will begin to slack off today

Overview:

Tropical Storm Claudette was named with the 4 am advisory as it finally had a well-defined circulation. That doesn't change anything, as most of the significant impacts occurred overnight. Conditions will slowly improve through the day outside of ongoing flash flooding and increasing river flooding.

Impacts:

• Gusty winds of 35-40 mph will still be possible into the early afternoon hours.

• An additional 0.5-2 inches of rain will be possible as isolated to scattered showers, and thunderstorms develop today.

• Tides have already peaked across the open coast and will slowly recede through the day. Tides inside the tidal lakes are currently peaking.

• A few tornadoes may still be possible this morning over coastal MS.
