Tropical Weather Update And Briefing Slides June 18, 2021 At 4 PM

Overview:

Potential Tropical Cyclone Three is forecast to move north with an eventual northeastward turn towards the Louisiana coastline. Some slow strengthening is expected with this system, and it is expected to make landfall as a tropical storm. The main threats associated with this system continue to be heavy rainfall and minor coastal flooding.

Impacts:

• Potential Tropical Cyclone Three is expected to move towards the northern Gulf Coast and make landfall this evening.
• Heavy rainfall is the greatest threat, with 4-8 inches of rain forecast across portions of the area with locally higher amounts possible.
• Minor coastal flooding with 1-3 feet of inundation along the open coast and 1-2 feet of inundation along the lake shores. Peak water levels are expected this evening and tonight.
• Tropical Storm Force Winds (39 to 57 mph) are likely expected today and tomorrow.
• A few tornadoes possible today and tomorrow.
• Dangerous marine conditions are expected across the coastal waters.
