On Sunday, July 11, 2021, Tangipahoa Parish Code Enforcement was notified of illegal dumping on Old Hwy 51 (the low road) between Ponchatoula and Manchac.  The perpetrator had dumped miscellaneous household trash on the side of the road.  Parish Code Enforcement responded immediately to investigate.

Working in coordination with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the offender was quickly identified and located.  Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries issued Mr. Dane J. Breaux a criminal citation for gross littering pursuant to Louisiana Revised Statute 30:2531.1, which carries a fine of $900.00, sixteen hours of community service work, and up to 30 days in jail.

Parish President Robby Miller said, "This is the second time in just over a month we caught someone illegally dumping in Manchac.  Citizens should be aware that Law Enforcement Agencies and Parish Code Enforcement are closely monitoring the area for such activity, and when it occurs, we will find those responsible and hold them accountable. It is a criminal offense that carries serious penalties.  We will not tolerate the casual attitude some people have towards illegal dumping in our Parish. We ask citizens who witness such illegal activity to report it immediately to local law enforcement, or the Tangipahoa Parish Code Enforcement Department by telephone at 985-602-9081, by email at enforcement@tangipahoa.org, or online at www.keeptangipahoabeautiful.org.

You may also report it through TangiCrimeStoppers by telephone at 1-800-554-5245 (JAIL) or the www.tangicrimestoppers.com website.
