Tangi Gears Up For Transit Bus Lines Restart

PREPARATION FOR RESTART-UP OF FIXED PUBLIC BUS ROUTES IN HAMMOND AND PONCHATOULA WITH TANGI TRANSIT BUS LINES

With updated and encouraging news coming from our local, state, and federal health officials regarding the easing of Covid mandated restrictions, the Tangipahoa Parish Government, in partnership with the Tangipahoa Council on Aging and the cities of Hammond and Ponchatoula, are preparing for the resumption of public transit services in the upcoming months.

The updated and improved cooperative transit services will be known overall as the “Tangi Transit'' program and will provide users and riders of these buses with safe and sanitary buses to transport them to areas of the cities most often requested by the public. The parish owned buses referred to as the City Bus of Ponchatoula or the City Bus of Hammond will transport riders to the advertised routes most frequented places, such as North Oaks Clinics and Hospital, Hammond Square Mall, grocery stores, various offices, and familiar stops in between. Riders will have the opportunity to connect to both cities at specified transfer points.

The parish and its project partners will continue to keep the public informed as we move forward with each step in the re-opening process of public transit. Please stay tuned to our website and social media channels for updates as we look forward to relaunching this service for our residents.
