AMITE—In preparation for what is expected to be a Category 4 hurricane approaching the south Louisiana coast this weekend, Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller will continue sandbag operation both self-serve and ready-made sandbag locations at 15 locations throughout the parish.

Recommended Evacuation Due To Threat Of Hurricane Ida

PONCHATOULA—Due to the forecast track for Hurricane Ida, Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller announced a “recommended evacuation" to those residents who live south of LA 22 as well as those staying in mobile homes and travel trailers.

“While this is not a mandatory evacuation, I strongly encourage our residents who live in low-lying, flood-prone areas south of LA 22 to prepare now and voluntarily evacuate their homes in advance of landfall and the flood surge that forecasters are predicting with this storm,” Miller said.
